'Captured'

Hi blogland! I am here today to share a fun layout I did using the Carte Bella Wildflower Collection from the Frosted Designs store as well as some other fun embellishments! I am loving the new influences of metallic gold that everyone has been going mad over lately in scrapbooking, and for this layout I really wanted that to be a main color. This collection is perfect for mixing fun patterns and some pretty golds, corals, teals, whites, and natural tones.

This is what I have created :

And a few closeups:

I had some fun coloring the wood veneer cameras using something I wouldn't normally use, gelatos! In the past I have used distress markers, ink sprays and mists on them. This time I used 2 colors of gelatos from the 50's diner pack, then misted a little water over them to let the colors blend slightly. After that I dried them with my heat gun and I love how they turned out!!! It was the perfect pop of color for my page.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, you can get your hands on some really good deals right now in the Frosted Designs store, including the Wildflower Collection pack which is on sale right now! I always love to hear feedback & what everyone else is working on...share with us on the Frosted Designs facebook page!

It was a lot of fun doing this layout. I am finally starting to feel my mojo coming back! I have 2 girlfriends coming over Monday for coffee and a full day of scrapping :) they will be the first scrapping buddies I've made in Portland. I'm excited!! Just have to get my scrap space cleaned up a bit. It should be fun! I hope to have some new projects to share this next week from that and a special thanksgiving post. Until then friends, keep scrapping!!

dreaming of BEACH BLISS......

Hi everyone! Hope your week has had a great start! I am off work today, trying to tackle my massive to-do list which includes my least favorite thing: laundry. Hopefully though a little Starbucks this afternoon and some Pandora will help with motivation:) I had a take a quick break and share with you a layout I did a few nights ago, surprisingly a non-DT layout so I was happy about that...also just trying to get the mojo going so I can start some new Etsy projects for the shop. Hope this is some fresh inspiration for you today!

I scraplifted a layout that I found in a recent issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Here are a few close ups:

I actually started the background by spraying some Glimmer Mist and Smooch Spritz in 'river mossy' and sunshine yellow, also lightly stamping with a large chevron background stamp. After that I distressed a few strips of leftover wooden plank paper across both pages to tie them together. Then I started adding my elements. I knew I wanted to use one of my very favorite paper lines, Out of Print by Basic Grey. I fussy cut the large doodle flowers from the paper and layered them with pop dot and topped off the center with a pearl sticker.

For the banner under the large photo, I used some blanket tickets from Purple Pumpkin that I stamped and misted, then cut out my own banner shapes from another scrap of BG paper- Lime Rickey and  canvas, which I also misted and distressed. I stapled them over the tickets and twine for a messy kind of look. I really like how it turned out and I will definately try this technique again!!

Page 2 is full of instagram prints, which I LOVE on my layouts cause they are the perfect size!! Also stickers, thickers for the title, and some pretty flowers along with my fussy cut flowers.

I was excited to use my 'let's ride in tandem' bicycle stamp for the first time! It's so cute!!! Also got to use some of the wooden veneer boys and girls from the awesome giveaway I just won...so exciting! Can't wait to play with some more of those goodies again tonite!

And that's about it! Here's a look at my craft space in mid-mojo, I always enjoy sharing what I'm working on  instagram!

And last but not least, when I went to take some layout photos by the patio door for natural light, of course my kitty had to be in the way. She loves window watching ;)

well, until next time friends, enjoy your mid-week inspiration!
Peace Y'all~ VV

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge: Chevrons!

So today I am here to share with you my very first 'official' DT work as part of the Frosted Designs team! I am so excited that our first Fabulous Friday challenge was Chevrons..I absolutley LOVE chevrons! My iphone cover is even chevron!! LOL! Well anyway, the challenge was to use chevrons in any way, shape or form on your layout, card, or other project. This time I chose to actually do a 2 page layout- which isn't what I normally do but I was so inspired by some photos of my parents out on the Boston Whaler last Memorial Day that I knew I had to include them all! Please come check out all the inspiration over at Frosted Designs...all the ladies are so talented!!! Join in on the challenge today and be eligible to win the fabulous prize from our sponsor, "Leave a Paper Trail"! Here are a few shots of my project:

And a few close ups, my favorite part! The clusters of stuff, and different textures all together!

I combined paper from American Crafts, Pebbles, and the Tim Holtz Lost & Found paper stash.
The tile letters are Tim Holtz, along with the number stickers, memo pens, vial labels, and other paper scraps, some that I cut out and heat embossed others that I distressed and inked in vintage photo.

The 'hotel' paper from the TH paper stash was my starting point... I thought it was really cool and didn't want to cover to much of it up, so I decided to do 2 different chevrons on either side then ground my photos on solid cardstock in kraft and a darker brown color.

Another fun thing I did on this layout was make these rosettes with script-printed tissue paper using some 'glubers' those things are so awesome! It was the first time taking them out of the package, basically they are a huge glue dot that you can make your own flower on. Then I spritzed them with Smooch in Cherry Ice and Tea Party, then over top of that some TH distress stickles in dried apricot. I heated them a tiny bit to dry then stuck them in place!

That's all for today friends! Thank you for stopping by, and if you aren't already a follower, I'd love it if you'd follow me on Google+ or facebook at www.facebook.com/vvcrafts. Until next time, Peace Y'all~ VV
