SOS & Susan's Monday Challenge

Hi friends! I hope you are ready for Valentine's day! I am sharing a layout I did this week for the Sketch Challenge over at Scrap Our Stash. Frosted Designs is sponsoring this month and so the design team got to play along! It was pretty easy to put together the pink & red color palette but I added a bit of mint and black to pump up the volume. I had so much fun making this layout and using a old photo from my stash of me, my mom, sis, cousin and aunt on Easter 1989.

I am also entering this for the Monday Challenge over at my friend Susan's blog: Where Life Meets Art...her challenge this week is to use red & pink on your layout. I originally wanted to do some cards but with the crazy weather here and my work scehdule not really changing...unfortunatley thats how retail is sometimes, I didn't have time. I am still really happy with this project and no harm in sharing it!

Here is the sketch:

The other requirements of this challenge were to use heart patterned paper, at least one premade heart embellishment, and at least one premade arrow.

Here is my layout:

I used several items from the Frosted Designs store:
Ranger Dylusions Ink white linen
Black arrows paper- Carte Bella Wildflower collection
Maya Road emphemra 'love' and heart
stickles glitter glue champagne, fruit punch & cranberry
Studio calico that-away stickers
memory photo frames

And here are some close ups for you:

I really enjoyed sharing today. It was pretty cold, snowy and icy here last week and I hope you got to see some of my snow pictures. It is starting to slightly warm up and I think everyone is looking forward to spring! Until next time friends- enjoy your weekend & great creative! You still have plenty of time to join in both challenges!

FDFF Challenge: Things with Wings + a Sketch

Hi friends and followers! I am here on this lovely Saturday to share my project for the FDFF Challenge, which this time is to use our sketch + anything with wings! You can use angel wings, birds, butterflies, bugs, bees, you get the idea! And our sponsor this time is Molossi from Austraila! The winner of this challenge gets a lovely prize pack from them and of course bragging rights! Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

And some close ups! My favorite thing is combining different elements to create a unique mix of products. Here I used some paper piecings from The Girl's Paperie 'on holiday' kit, some Jolee's 3d birds, some paper roses by Michael's, 2 types of thicker's alphas, buttons, scraps of canvas, and 2 round pieces from a kit I found at Tuesday Mornings. The flower with the large button at the top was made by my friend, Laura for SF convention last fall. I also used just a bit of washi tape. The papers are also from the kit and there's a bit of vintage Basic Grey in there too, I can't resist using my favorite paper line on almost every layout! LOL

I love this saying... "Free your Soul"

And in case you haven't noticed, my new favorite thing is to combine thickers alphas for my page titles.

"Love Life" ain't that the truth??!?!

As this post goes live, I am already in our new place in Portland, Oregon!! So as soon as we get settled and I get my scrapping area set up I will post some pics for everyone of my new space. I am so excited to be embarking on a new lifestyle and new adventures with my hubby. It's going to be a big change from South Alabama but I know it will be great! " Doilies + A Sketch" FDFF Challenge!

Hi everyone! I hope you have enjoyed your week so far. I have been lucky enough to finally have some real time off, instead of just a day here and there- this past weekend I had 5 days off and I have enjoyed myself catching up on DT work, new April challenges, and of course the dreaded task of packing and organizing for our move on May 29th. There's still alot to do but I feel like I am making headway. The hubby was off with me for 2 days in a row as well so I made sure to put him to work! LOL!

I am here to share my LO for the new challenge that's up over at Frosted Designs! It's our Fabulous Friday Challenge again and this time we want you to create a layout or project using doilies and this sketch:

Isn't this a great sketch by Brenshevia?? I love it! So this is what I ended up doing, I pretty much stuck to the original, since I liked the sketch so much I didn't rotate it or anything. I had some real paper doilies in my stash so I made sure to ink them up with lots of Tim Holtz and added them to my LO.
This is how it turned out:

Here are some more close up shots I took in the window today, while the sun was out for a short while :)

The papers and most of the embellishments I used were from a pack I bought on discount at Tuesday Mornings! I love that store!! They have some good stuff every now and again if you dig thru their bins. I found this huge paper pack that included brads, flowers, trims and lace, chipboard letters, fussy cut pieces, plus about 20 sheets of 12x 12 patterned paper all for only $16.99. I think this line is made by "The Girl's Paperie" and it's called " On Holiday".
From my stash I only added the red crochet mini doilies, the red baker's twine, paper doilies, thickers, buttons, and of course some ink and stickles!!!

Ok friends, if you want to win our prize for this challenge, all you have to do is link up your layout or project using this sketch and doilies no later than May 8th and you will be in our drawing for the prize this time from VINTAGE STREET MARKET and of course the DT pick's TOP 3! We would love for you to play along! Thanks for stopping by my blog today... I always enjoy the lovely comments! XoX :) until next time, Peace Y'all~ VV

FDFF 'Scallops' Challenge + Purple Pumpkin March Sketch

Good day everyone! I'm here today to share the project I created for the Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs! Our challenge this time was to create any layout, mini album or project using scallops!! I happen to LOVE scallops, I even have some scallop scissors and a scallop circle punch, so this was pretty easy for me! I have also used the March Sketch over at Purple Pumpkin for my layout. All you have to do to participate is link up your project at the FD blog no later than  April 12th and you'll be entered to win a fabulous prize from SpeigelMom's Scrap Shop on Etsy.

Here is a look at the great sketch I used from PP:

And here is what I came up with!!!

I started the base of my layout by layering some papers that I inked, distressed, spritzed and sprayed. I also had a few scallop circles that I knew I wanted to use so I placed those around my page until I was happy with the placement. Then I started adding my textural elements. There are lots of PP goodies and other stuff from my stash on this page!

And a couple of close ups:
I thought I was just about done then I realized that I hadn't put anything in place of the 'banner' at the bottom of the page on the sketch, so I used a scallop banner mini stamp from Studio G and made a inky banner across the bottom of the page.
This one is my fav!!! Maybe my new cover photo on facebook... LOL

I also thought that one of my PP buttons, the hot pink spotty dotty one was a little too 'clean and bright' for this grungy-girly layout. So I decided to mess it up with 2 colors of stickles and a bit of black ink, then put in on top of 2 prima flowers as the center.

You still have plenty of time to play along! Don't forget to ink up your project by April 11th to the Frosted Designs blog for your chance to win! Thanks so much again for stopping by today :) Until next time, Peace Y'all~VV

Xmas Mischief: Dec Sketch Challenge at SF!

Hi everyone! Just a quick post today to share of a layout I did for my LSS, Scrapping Frenzy, for our monthly sketch challenge. I don't have a pic of the sketch, but basically I turned in on it's side a flipped it a bit. I really enjoyed working with these new Pink Paislee papers, I chose the lighter blue and beige side of the one paper and some solid cardstock as my background. I had fun trying to make a 'snowy' background for these pictures of our beloved Carmella, digging thru the wrapping paper pile on Christmas morning. Forgive these photos, I had to take them inside that day since it was so wet and dreary out :)
Here are some pics:

I fussy cut some snowflakes from a scrap of christmas paper, then I glittered them and stickled some of them and used pop dots to pop them off my page. I had a tag from We R Memory Keepers that I tied with some ribbon and added to the page too. I inked it first with Colorbox chalk ink in mint and then outlined it with silver stickles. I also chose a few vintage buttons to add for dimension. For the patterned paper by Pink Paislee, I distressed the edged and used metallic blue Martha Stewart stackable ink for the edges. I also lightly spritzed it with Smooch Spritz in silver foil for a pretty shimmer.
I added some rows of pearls and a few of my fellow DT member Laura's 'fork tie bows'
in silver for a sweet touch.

The journaling tag is from the Authentique peaceful collection sticker elements sheet. I have so very few of them left... I love that paper line I might just have to buy some more!!!
Ok, well that's it for today! Short and sweet! If you'd like to see my other design team member's take on the sketch of the month, head on over to www.scrappingfrenzy.com and check it out! Until next time, Peace Y'all~VV

hello bungalow!

Hello friends! I'm here today to share with you a layout that I did for my LSS, Scrapping Frenzy. I used some new papers from the 'Prep School' line by Authentique.  The photos are instagrams from our arrival at our 'bungalow' for the weekend on the lagoon side of the bay in Gulf Shores during Hangout fest weekend (May of 2012). We were so pumped to get there and kick off the weekend right! We were asked to interpret this sketch which in it's original form is 8.5 x 11". This was the sketch:

I did my layout in a 12x12 format. I used this sketch as a rough idea, putting a square behind my photos instead of a circle, also I put my banners and title oppisite, banners on top and title on the bottom. Also I moved my journaling over to the side of my photos. Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out and that I was able to use up the almost the last of my Pink Paislee woodshop letters for my title! Here are a few photos:

A few closies: I layered my cluster first with a scalloped circle punched out of word paper. Then some raffia ribbon, a few felt circles topped with a button and tied with twine. The Sam Adams bottle cap is an inside joke on these pics of my fiance and his friend Mike. I added a second small button and a few tiny flowers behind the ribbon that I sprayed with the new Dylusions ink spray by Ranger in 'melted chocolate'. Off to the side there is a small shipping tag, more buttons, twine and flowers.

I used a bit of washi tape along with some more flowers and resin embellishments for a smaller cluster near the bottom of my page. And my favorite part of this page...the banner! I put buttons and some gem drops on top of the pennants to add texture. I love making banners I swear besides chevrons, banners are my other favorite trend in scrapbooking right now!

Ok, well that is all for today. I hope I have inspired you to make a banner or use a bottle cap on your next scrapbook page! Thanks for stopping by, I'd really be spoiled if I got a comment or two?! Until next time, Peace Y'all~ VV
