SOS & Susan's Monday Challenge

Hi friends! I hope you are ready for Valentine's day! I am sharing a layout I did this week for the Sketch Challenge over at Scrap Our Stash. Frosted Designs is sponsoring this month and so the design team got to play along! It was pretty easy to put together the pink & red color palette but I added a bit of mint and black to pump up the volume. I had so much fun making this layout and using a old photo from my stash of me, my mom, sis, cousin and aunt on Easter 1989.

I am also entering this for the Monday Challenge over at my friend Susan's blog: Where Life Meets Art...her challenge this week is to use red & pink on your layout. I originally wanted to do some cards but with the crazy weather here and my work scehdule not really changing...unfortunatley thats how retail is sometimes, I didn't have time. I am still really happy with this project and no harm in sharing it!

Here is the sketch:

The other requirements of this challenge were to use heart patterned paper, at least one premade heart embellishment, and at least one premade arrow.

Here is my layout:

I used several items from the Frosted Designs store:
Ranger Dylusions Ink white linen
Black arrows paper- Carte Bella Wildflower collection
Maya Road emphemra 'love' and heart
stickles glitter glue champagne, fruit punch & cranberry
Studio calico that-away stickers
memory photo frames

And here are some close ups for you:

I really enjoyed sharing today. It was pretty cold, snowy and icy here last week and I hope you got to see some of my snow pictures. It is starting to slightly warm up and I think everyone is looking forward to spring! Until next time friends- enjoy your weekend & great creative! You still have plenty of time to join in both challenges!

purple pumpkin crafts: my first design team application

Hi everyone! First I just want to think those of you who have already visited my blog! It feels pretty awesome to have already 30 or so viewers in just one day of being published! I hope to only grow from here and inspire you more and more each day! So thanks, again :)

Having some extra free time today, since my trip to Birmingham was cancelled, I spent a little bit of time earlier checking up on all my new favorite scrapping blogs. One of them, purplepumkincrafts.blogspot.com posted that they would be accepting applications for their new design team! So I figured why not? I have never been on a design team before but I figured I might as well go for it now! You were asked to include 3 of your best and favorite projects that include homemade embellishments. I haven't been able to order any of their cute buttons yet because every time I check it they have been sold out! But I think for my first application for something like this, I have some good stuff to pick from. I really wish I could have chosen 3 more projects! I have so many favorites!

Anyway, I wanted to share with you guys the projects I picked so everyone can see some more of my work. At least until I finish my next project in a few days...so here they are take a look and tell me what you think!

until next time my wonderful crafty ladies....your gal-VV

hello blogging world.

Hi! I'm here! I made it! After much research and thought, I have finally made it here. I have a blog that will be solely dedicated to everything beautiful, rustic, vintage, old and new, everything I love about scrapbooking and papercrafting. All here in one place! I hope that this journey I am taking into the next chapter in my life will be one of growth and discovery. I am excited to be able to share it with everyone. It's always great to start a new project :)

I have added some of my favorite blogs over to the side here, these are all super great and I swear if I could just stay at home and blog all day about scrapping I would be soo happy!!! One day I hope to do something like this for a job, and work on a design team or get published. I know there is alot of talent out there but I think I have some pretty good work. I have been told at crops and conventions that I totally do! I have even been asking if I was selling my handmade cards. All of this feedback, after 10 years of scrapbooking has lead me here. Like I said, this is a journey we will all take together !!!

Ok, so I want to get straight to some pictures of my work, just so yall can see some stuff I have done. Still in the process of taking better photos but for now these will do. Hope it will give you some ideas if you are a scrapbooker! Here goes...first picture of a layout ever on my page LOL I'm getting excited.

So for this page, I used lots of ribbon to create some shabby chic flowers. basically I made small loops and stapled each loop to form the center of the flower. Kind of a neat idea for a not so neat looking flower. For the base of the page, I used scraps of patterned papers all from different lines. Some of the strips are wider and some smaller. I glued those down on top of a solid sheet to tie all the different patterns together. To add a focal point near the main attraction, a picture of my love (Jimmy) and his mom, I added a journaling block. This one I cut out myself but you could use any type of journaling block here.

For the finishing touches, I added a large title and subtitle. 'Mommas' is cut out on the cricut machine using the Don Juan cartridge. I also inked it with a cat's eye in chestnut roan. All of the paper strips are inked as well. I LOVE INK! Probably my favorite thing besides paper! Also to the top and bottom I added 2 chipboard tabs with brads to add visual interest and texture. Then I journaled in the box and inked the edges of the paper. Pretty much it for my first officially posted layout! More to come I promise scrapping friends :)
Until next time~ VV
