FDFF Challenge Black & White + Another Color

Hi friends! I have so enjoyed catching up on all my blog reading and commenting today. It makes me realize just how much talent and inspiration there is out there..from my friends here and all over the globe. Scrapping and being creative really makes me happy, as I've said before it's my outlet. So that leads me to my latest layout for Frosted Designs. I chose a few pictures that really inspire me from everyday and a pic of myself in the middle as the 'artist at heart'. I am really happy with how this turned out. For the Fabulous Friday Challenge, our rules this time were to use black & white plus one other color for our layout or project. I first thought I would use purple, but then I found these photos and I thought one of my favorite colors, teal, would go perfectly! All you have to do to play along is link up your project or layout to the Frosted Designs blog no later than Wednesday, May 22nd and you will be entered to win our fabulous prize from  SpeigelMom's Scrap Shop ! So get to it! Good luck and don't forget you also could be in the Design Team's pick for Top 3!!

Here is my layout:

I started my layout with basic white cardstock. I used Smooch Spritz in River Mossy and Silver foil to spray my background. I also smudged some of it with my fingers. I originally wanted to do a textured background using gesso or some other medium but this paper wasn't thick enough to take it so I just went with it. I added my main strip of black and white chevron paper and went from there. I knew what photos I wanted to use so I matted them then heat embossed the black picture frame I had from another kit with UTEE to bring out my main photo.  Then I started adding my embellishments and stamping.
Here are some other shots:

I distressed the edges of all my papers and sanded some of the chipboard embellishments before misting them. For finishing touches, I added some Prima flowers, buttons from BoBunny, some Tim Holtz sentiment stickers and vial labels. Also the large manila tag was leftover from my last experiment with Tim's Tags of 2013, it was a little too blueish for what I was going for on the Patina look so I cut it down and added it to this layout for more texture. I also mixed 2 different packs of Thickers for my title, which I seem to be doing alot these days! LOL! And a few close ups:

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I really enjoy reading all my comments and visiting all your blogs. It's so inspirational! One day I will have all the time in the world to create which is what I would really love to do. Only about 19 or so days until the move then I get to travel with my sis and have 3 weeks off!!
I can't wait to have some free brain time and not have to worry about doing all this stuff!!! Trust me...there is sOO much to do between now and then, just hoping I can get motivated to get it all done!

Don't forget to link up your project to the Frosted Designs sidebar linky by May 22nd to be entered to win our fabulous prize from SpeigelMom's Scrap Shop!!! We can't wait to see what you create!!

Tim Holtz: 12 Tags of 2013: April

So I was so EAGER to get started on t!m's tag for April that I stayed up late last night and finished it, after it's only been posted for 24 hours on his blog. Me thinks I might be a wee bit obsessed...oh well it's always great to start a new month off right with new challenges and some fresh inspiration. I was really in love with the whole 'patina' technique' he did on this tag and I did my best to replicate it. Sadly, I don't have any of the new distress paints- which I am DYING to get my hands on soon- so I had to make do. This is what Tim's Tag looks like as our fabulous inspiration:

Well I knew I didn't have any of the distress paints, or metal pieces. I had some other metal pieces including a mini dragonfly that I found so I first pulled out all my supplies. I had the #8 manila tag, distress inks, tissue tape and crinkle ribbon. I actually experimented by using some folk art craft paint that I mixed together and also spritzed with water to get my background effect. Then I heated everything to dry and started laying on the elements.

I used some Hampton Art stamps on my background along with tissue tape and a few stickers from Tim's crowded attic collection. Then I added on my patina clock and corner piece. The clock is layered with a clear piece that I stamped and the metal dragonfly, then inked all over with distress ink.

And a few more shots, some close ups!

 And my favorite, instagram shares!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I love getting comments and new followers. I need to get to work but I will be sharing up more inspiration and new challenges for what's going on in April! Have a great Wednesday everyone, until next time~ Peace Y'all~ VV

I {ADORE} this girl...

Good morning! I am super excited that I have another share for you today and even more excited that it is non-DT related!! Which means I got some EXTRA scrapping time in this month, which is great!!! I have been holding on to this pic of my little niece for a long time, she's a bigger now, but something about it just struck me, I knew I needed to do a special page using it! And I decided to print it in black and white to add even more drama...my favorite part is the expression on her little face...it's priceless!!!
Ok, here are the pictures:

I actually used the cardboard/paper packaging from a pack of Prima flowers to put behind my matted photo.  It had such a cool design with the script and the clocks that I thought it would be worth saving!!

I also made a bow using some black tulle and white meshy stuff. I also wanted more or less a monochromatic color scheme so I stuck with black, white, greys, and shades of orange/peach to make sure that the photo was the star of the page!
And the last close up, my favorite and only little niece, Zoe!!! I love her!!

Okay, well short and sweet today. I hope you enjoy your weekend! I will be working the whole time but I'll be off again Tues and Wed and then it will be back to some creative time!! Until next time, peace y'all~VV

{an unbreakable bond}

Good evening, friends!I hope everyone enjoyed their Friday the 13th!! Since my last post was SUPER LONG, I have a nice little short one for you this time!! LOL! Tonight I am here to share with you a new LO I did a few nights ago for the sketch challenge over at Frosted Designs
It is for Sketch Along Tuesdays #32. This was the original sketch:

And this is my take on the sketch:
and without a flash...can't see colors as well.
and a better shot with the flash. This photo is of my Aunt and Cousin, Debbie and Kate. They both are such beautiful women and I'm very grateful to have them in my life, also they remind me alot of my Mom in many many ways and of course our genes and the dark hair...runs in the family!
 and here are some closies:
for the paper roses I folded some punched circles that I inked in 2 different colors. Then I attached them to strips of Basic Grey paper. I thought it was a cool effect and added some visual interest to the top of the page.

I used several different sticker hearts and doodled swirls around them in Glitz stickles in sequins.
some closies of the fussy cutting I did on the flowers I used along with some small red prima flowers.
I like this shot, it shows all the different textures going on in the background overlapping papers, the quote block, the crochet doily from PP, and the buttons and brads. Very girly colors but I wanted to tone it down so I used just splashes of green and the background paper is dark brown cardstock.

That is all for tonite! Just got to finish watching my new fav show, Grimm because we DVR'd it earlier and now since this post is finished I think I'm gonna VEGG out for the rest of the night... ( as Julia Roberts) would say in  Pretty Women! LOL "lay like broccoli!! Until next time, Peace Y'all! ~V V
