Tim Holtz: 12 tags of 2013 March & Tattered floral challenge!

Good evening all my friends in crafty blog land... I hope you all have had a good weekend. I was lucky enough to be off today with my hubby, so I got to enjoy some downtime with him, grocery shopping and even some crafting! ( I looked over the clean laundry pile one more time to have some fun time in the craft room! LOL). I was so excited about Tim's tag for March that I had to get going on it right away!!! So I'll start with that, here is his tag as the inspiration:

So right off the bat I knew I'd have to start this tag by making the bunny. I sadly don't have either one of the dies he used (YET) or a beloved vagabond so I had to make do with what I had. I used my cricut to cut out a journal block similar in shape and a bunny rabbit. Then I started the task of making my 'tinsel' look for the negative space. I use some hot pink sparkly tulle, 2 stickles in Glitz multicolor and 'patina', and part of my kitty's toys- a tinsel looking ball in hot pink that I gave a haircut to! LOL I know it's sad the lengths we will go for crafting....but the honest truth is I didn't want to dig out the Xmas decor to see if I could find a spare scrap of tinsel!! LOL! That is sad I know...but she will hardly miss it, she has a million balls.

After making the bunny, I used my #8 manila tag and started assembling all the elements..the grass I hand cut myself, the background paper was the brightest flowery piece from my TH crowded attic paper stack, the crinkle ribbon I dyed with distress markers- LOVE that stuff!!! And of course the flowers I  messed up a bit cause I didn't have metal ones and topped them with 2 of my favorite vintage buttons. I did use Tim's technique using the long fasteners and memo pins though to make them 'stick' into the grass- which was really cool!!

Here are some pictures of my tag:

Overall I am pretty happy how it turned out...took me about 2.5 hours to make but I think it was a success! These are the supplies that I used for this tag: #8 manila tag, floral paper from Tim's 'crowded attic' paper collection, cream cardstock, vintage buttons from my stash, Tim's crinkle ribbon, Tim's paper distresser, Tim's distress markers in antique linen, spun sugar, and broken china; Tim's memo pens, Tim's distress ink in vintage photo, tea dye, and antique linen. Prima flowers, green cardstock, pop dots, Ranger stickles in multicolor glitz and patina, mini 'FAMILY' stamp from Studio G.

Ok, onto the next project! The tattered floral challenge which I was so glad to finally participate in...been wanting to sit down and try it for days! After alot of trial and error with the grungeboard, mists and inks I used, and the canvas and burlap pieces, these are the 2 that I came up with. I am thinking of adding them to a bluejean purse I have in the closet...hmm. Well here's the photos:

And this is what my desk looked like after the 5 or so hours of crafting this afternoon...

So I guess it's time to clean up and start on the next project, more design work and some decor for a dear friend's party next weekend... off I go! Thanks for stopping by, until next time, PEACE Y'all~ VV

Oh and P.S.....a HUGE HUGE shout out to one of my favorite scrapping inspirations here in blogland...KELLY FOSTER!!! I won her huge giveway that she was having, just found out today! So I may be having a giveaway of my own very, very soon. Need to do some Spring cleaning, anyway!!! :)) Stay tuned!
